Hakka Hee Pan is a type of traditional Hakka steamed rice cake usually prepared during important ceremony and festivals such as marriage and birthday celebrations.

• 125 grams glutinous rice flour
• 125 grams all-purpose flour
• 5 tablespoons Biogreen O’Blue Organic Agave Nectar
• 1 teaspoon instant yeast
• 1 tablespoon Biogreen 100% Organic Virgin Coconut Oil
• 12 pieces banana leaves, lightly greased
• (purple bun) 1 tablespoon Etblisse Emil 3H + 3 tablespoon Etblisse Emil a2 (reconstituted with 200ml warm water)
• (green bun) 10 pandan leaves (add 200ml water, blend into pandan juice and filter)
• (yellow bun) 120g pumpkin (steamed for 15 minutes, mixed in 100ml water and pureed)
1. Mix glutinous rice flour, flour and instant yeast together in a mixing bowl.
2. Add O’Blue Organic Agave Nectar into plant-based milk, pandan juice or pumpkin puree and mix to combine.
3. Add in plant-based milk, pandan juice or mashed pumpkin gradually and knead until the dough is smooth.
4. Add oil and continue kneading until the dough surface becomes shiny.
5. Grease your palms with cooking oil. Divide dough into 15 small pieces of about 30 – 40 grams each.
6. Round each dough pieces and place them on top of a piece of banana leave and press it until it is about 1 cm thick.
7. Put in the steamer tray and let it proof for 45 minutes and cover the tray with a piece of wet tower.
8. Bring the water to boil and steam for 12-15 minutes under high heat.
9. Turn off the heat and leave the steamer lid open slightly, wait for 3-5 minutes before removing the Hee Pan from the steamer.
